Ecobatt, in the form of rolls, is made from fiberglass or rock wool materials. They are available in standard widths to fit between wall studs and attic or floor joists. Your Astro representative can help you decide which batt type is best for your needs – contact us today.
Fiberglass Ecobatts
For those looking for an economical choice, Astro Insulation offers EcoBatt fiberglass insulation that’s installed precisely by our trained professionals. Usually less than one third of the cavities (areas between the studs) in a home are actually full sized, that means two thirds of the batts must be cut to fit. Our installation experts take the time to cut each EcoBatt to fit the individual cavity, helping to minimize the gaps and compression.
Plus, EcoBatt insulation is eco-friendly so it’s not only good for your home, it’s good for the environment, too. It’s made with recycled glass bottles, sand and ECOSE™ Technology, which is based on rapidly-renewable organic bio-based materials instead of non-renewable chemicals like phenol, formaldehyde or acrylics that are often found in other batt products.
Key Benefits
- Economical choice
- Affordable sound control
- Cut to fit by trained Astro Insulation installers
- Eco-friendly – made from renewable organic materials
Rock Wool Batts
Roxul mineral wool products can be used in both new residential construction and renovations. This semi-rigid batt has a unique flexible edge designed to compress as the batt is inserted into walls, attics, ceiling and floor frames. The flexible edge springs back, expanding the batt against the frame studs to give a complete fill. Roxul Flexibatt compensates for normal variations in stud centers caused by distortion or warping. The special flexible characteristic at the insulation edge ensures the expected R-value is achieved.
Roxul products are mineral wool fiber insulations made from basalt rock and slag. This combination results in a non-combustible product with a melting point of approximately 2150 degrees F (1177 degrees C), which gives the mineral rock wool batts excellent fire resistance properties.
Roxul mineral wool is also a water repellent yet vapor permeable material. It absorbs water only when water is pressed or forced into the material and once the pressure is relieved, the water will evaporate without any loss of integrity to the materials shape or insulating properties.
Key Benefits
- Higher R-values than standard fiberglass batts
- Economical choice
- Non-combustible
- Will not mold
- Water repellent yet vapor permeable
